Grand Bazaar:

For the ultimate shopping experience, this is the place to be. Nowhere else on earth will you find such a cultural shopping center, housing thousands of local merchandise and food. Everything you could imagine is there including: artwork, textiles, décor, clothes, jewelry and much more! Be sure to get a map of the place before you go. It’s very easy to get lost amidst the merchandise.

Sultan Ahmed Mosque:

One thing you will see everywhere in the city are dozens of mosques and other places of worship. However, the crown jewel and must see is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque also referred to as the Blue Mosque. Built over 400 years ago, this mosque is one of Istanbul’s most icon and prestige mosques in the city. Free to enter, just remember this is a place of worship and shoes are required to come off. Also, head coverings are required for all women.

Galata Tower:

Take a step back into the medieval period while touring this ancient tower. Take a walk along the bridge and witness a beautiful view of the city. This is an ideal place for any photographer or everyday selfie taker. You can’t take a bad picture as there is an abundance of beauty spreading out in all directions. If you are hungry, catch a snack at the café closer to the tower.

Sakip Sabanci Museum:

For a tour of fine art and things not commonly found in your typical museum, try this place. Inside, the museum houses religious artifacts, calligraphy art and paintings from the Ottoman Era. Get a true taste of the city and its vast history.

Walls of Constantinople:

It’s amazing how somethings in this world will continue to thrive through the ages. The Walls of Constantinople is one such place that you can really feel the history of Istanbul. Take a stroll along the walls and take some time to really take in the incredible structures still standing.
